Poem by Randy P. Brungard of Lock Haven, PA:

Sent from Heaven above with hooves that could fly,
came an undefeated Thoroughbred named Justify.

Over ninety thousand racing fans were at Belmont Park,
to see if this Pegasus-like horse could make his mark.

Standing stock still while we awaited his fate,
Justify broke like a shot coming out of the gate.

Straight to the lead without even trying,
the strapping chestnut colt appeared to be flying.

Around the first turn and down the backstretch they strode,
with jockey Mike Smith sitting in statue-like mode.

Entering the far turn and still in the lead,
nine others were trying to catch this great steed.

At the head of the turn with 1097 feet to go,
everyone was hoping Justify would put on a show.

Down the stretch he ran to an appreciative roar,
this glorious creature came through once more.

Leading every step of the way at a sensible pace,
he was not seriously threatened throughout the race.

A magnificent horse with a big white blaze,
Justify successfully navigated the Triple Crown maze.
