Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted November 6, 2020 Journalists Share Posted November 6, 2020 Golden Pal (c, 2, Uncle Mo–Lady Shipman, by Midshipman) rocketed out to the front from his extreme outside draw and wasn’t for catching in Friday’s GII Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint at Keeneland. Briefly taken a hold of by Irad Ortiz, Jr., and not wanting any part of it, the 4-5 favorite began to shake clear heading into the far turn, kicked for home in complete charge and stayed on to score by a length over the fast-finishing Cowan (Kantharos). Ubettabelieveit (Ire) (Kodiac {GB}) was third. The final time for 5 1/2 furlongs was 1:02.82. Golden Pal, a narrow second in the G2 Norfolk S. at Royal Ascot and a jaw-dropping winner of Saratoga’s Skidmore S., is the first foal out of the speedy ‘TDN Rising Star’ Lady Shipman, who finished a close second versus the boys in the 2015 GI Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint at Keeneland. Sales history: $325,000 RNA yrl ’19 KEESEP. Lifetime Record: 4-2-2-0. O-Ranlo Investments LLC; B-Randall E. Lowe (FL); T-Wesley Ward.
