Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted November 7, 2020 Journalists Share Posted November 7, 2020 Sent off the even-money chalk to join a select group of racemares to record multiple victories in the GI Longines Breeders’ Cup Distaff, MONOMOY GIRL (m, 5, Tapizar–Drumette, by Henny Hughes) was made to earn it, but in the end asserted her superiority, holding off GI Juddmonte Spinster S. winner Valiance (Tapit) and a late-charging Dunbar Road (Quality Road). Consigned to a four-wide run around the first turn as Harvest Moon (Uncle Mo) showed the way, the 2018 Eclipse Award-winning 3-year-old filly faced the breeze down the backstretch not far off a testing pace. Asked for a bit more speed approaching the stretch, Monomoy Girl took command three wide off the home corner and did enough to hold sway late for a seventh career Grade I victory. GI Preakness S. winner Swiss Skydiver (Daredevil) was in trouble from the start, as she stumbled and raced much farther off the pace than is her custom. She rallied up the fence and loomed a threat turning for home, but could not sustain the run and finished a well-beaten seventh.
