Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted December 5, 2020 Journalists Share Posted December 5, 2020 Sent off the 7-1 fourth choice in a field of five for Saturday’s GII Remsen S. at Aqueduct, New York-bred BROOKLYN STRONG (g, 2, Wicked Strong-Riviera Chic, by Medaglia d’Oro) eyeballed odds-on Ten For Ten (Frosted) with an eighth of a mile to go and got the better of that final-furlong tussle to cause the upset. Ten For Ten won the race into the first turn and led from Pickin’ Time (Stay Thirsty) as Brooklyn Strong monitored things from a bit further back while widest of the quintet. Pickin’ Time, last-out winner of the GIII Nashua S., was one of the first beaten at the three-eighths pole, but Brooklyn Strong was finding his best stride, even as Jose Ortiz was riding confidently atop Ten For Ten. Brooklyn Strong kept to his task, dueled heads apart with the favorite into the final 40 yards and proved superior on the day. Already one of three black-type winners, Brooklyn Strong is the first graded winner for Wicked Strong, who was narrowly beaten into third by Honor Code (A.P. Indy) in the 2013 Remsen. Lifetime Record: 4-3-0-1. O-Mark Schwartz; B-Cheryl Prudhomme & Dr Michael Gallivan (NY); T-Danny Velazquez.
