Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted December 5, 2020 Journalists Share Posted December 5, 2020 VARDA (f, 2, Distorted Humor–She’ll Be Right, by Sky Mesa) gave Baoma Corp. a second consecutive victory in the GI Starlet S. at Los Alamitos, as favored ‘TDN Rising Star’ Princess Noor (Not This Time) was pulled up at the quarter pole and impressive Desi Arnaz S. winner Astute (Speightstown) failed to see out the 8 1/2-furlong trip. Last into stride, Varda raced widest around the first turn, hampered slightly by Nasreddine (Nyquist) as Kalypso (Brody’s Cause) took them along. Princess Noor, a stalking second into the final three furlongs, breezed up alongside Kalypso and looked poised to run up the score, but she drifted out badly and was out of the race. That left Kalypso back on the lead, but Drayden van Dyke was winding up Varda from last and they stormed down the center of the track to cause the 17-1 upset. Television personality Kurt Hoover said that Princess Noor walked onto the horse ambulance under hew own power, but further details were pending. Lifetime Record: 3-2-1-0. O-Baoma Corporation; B-Masters 2013 LLC & Distorted Humor Syndicate (KY); T-Bob Baffert.
