Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted December 10, 2020 Journalists Share Posted December 10, 2020 Team Rogerson will have a solid team of runners at Te Rapa on Saturday including smart four-year-old Mascarpone (NZ) (Shooting To Win) in the Gr.3 J Swap Sprint (1400m). The last-start Listed Legacy Lodge Sprint (1200m) winner at Te Rapa has been allotted just 53kgs in a field that is headed by Group One winners Julius (NZ) (Swiss Ace) and The Mitigator (Master of Design). Group One winning rider Ryan Elliot will take the ride and is likely to ride a kilo overweight. “I think he’s a good horse in the making,” Graeme Rogerson said. “I’m not sure whether he is just a sprinter or whether he will get further, but Saturday will give us an indication and he should be very competitive.” Mascarpone will be suited by the track conditions at Te Rapa, which was rated a Dead4 on Thursday with a favourable weather forecast. The son of Shooting To Win holds nominations for both the Gr.1 Sistema Railway (1200m) and the Gr.1 JR & N Berkett Telegraph (1200m), with the latter a more likely option given the gelding’s preference for racing left-handed.
