Ronald McDonald House is the third charity to receive a share of more than $65,000 from greyhound racing’s 2020 ‘Chase for Charity’ promotion.

GRV Chair, Peita Duncan today presented a cheque for $23,293 to Ronald McDonald House Charities CEO, Peter Bishop, as part of GRV and state-wide radio show Off The Bench’s fundraising effort.

Each weekend for 40 weeks during 2020, ‘Off The Bench’ hosts Craig Hutchison (Ronald McDonald House) and Liam Pickering (Men’s Shed Association) placed $500 each on a greyhound, with all winnings being raised for their respective charities. A weekly $500 bet was also placed on a greyhound on behalf of the Maddie Riewoldt’s Vision charity.

Today’s presentation was the final of three presentations to the selected charities for 2020.

In presenting the cheque, Ms Duncan said once again greyhound racing had demonstrated its commitment to the Victorian community.

“During this difficult year we continue to see acts of generosity in support of charities across our state,” she said.

“GRV and our clubs are strong supporters of charities and this year has been no exception.”

Chase for Charity started in 2017 and has raised more than $170,000 for chosen charities.

Ronald McDonald House Charities supports families of children with serious illness by providing a range of programs to help them stay together and close to the care they need. This includes keeping them close to hospitals as well as providing holiday accommodation and learning programs to help sick children catch up on missed education.
