Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted January 3, 2021 Journalists Share Posted January 3, 2021 Sent off the prohibitive 1-5 chalk while trying a distance of ground for the first time, ‘TDN Rising Star‘ LIFE IS GOOD (c, 3, Into Mischief–Beach Walk, by Distorted Humor) ran his record to two wins from as many starts in Saturday’s GIII Sham S. at Santa Anita. Not the quickest away, the $525,000 Keeneland September yearling soon mustered for speed and made the lead while traveling three wide into the first turn. Racing freely and off the rail, ears flicking back and forth down the backstretch, Life Is Good was past the half-mile pole in :46.67 and looked like he might blow the race up after six furlongs in 1:10.66. Mike Smith rode hands-and-heels only into the final furlong, but was forced to get after his mount a sixteenth of a mile from home as stablemate Medina Spirit (Protonico) made him work for it late. Life Is Good was sent off the 1-5 chalk for his six-furlong debut at Del Mar Nov. 22 and defeated Wipe The Slate by 9 1/2 lengths. The form of that race was franked when the latter came back to graduate by 3 1/4 lengths on opening day of the current meet, earning a lofty 88 Beyer. Life Is Good was giving his sire a second consecutive score in the Sham, following on the success of Authentic 12 months ago. Lifetime Record: 2-2-0-0. O-CHC Inc & WinStar Farm LLC; B-Gary & Mary West Stable Inc (KY); T- Bob Baffert.
