Fighting Irish Retires To Stud With Bonus Incentive

Fighting Irish (Ire) (Camelot {GB}) has been retired to Niccolo and Vita Riva's Haras d'Annebault in Normandy for the 2021 covering season, where he will stand for a fee of €3,000.

To support his stud launch, owners Daniel Macauliffe and Anoj Don, who are standing the 6-year-old in  association with Haras d'Annebault, are offering a €50,000 bonus for the breeder of the first Group-race winner in the UK, Ireland or France from his first crop of foals. The duo also plans to support Fighting Irish with mares at stud and through purchasing his young stock at the sales.

Trained by Harry Dunlop, Fighting Irish became the first Group winner for his sire Camelot when landing the G2 Criterium de Maisons-Laffitte in 2017. Across four seasons in training he raced 22 times for three wins and he was also placed in the G2 Mehl-Mulhens-Rennen (German 2000 Guineas).

“Fighting Irish is a very good-looking, strong, precocious type and a most athletic mover who always showed a lot of speed and natural ability from day one,” said Dunlop. “As Camelot's only Group-winning sprinter out of a Pivotal mare, I have no doubt that he has all the credentials to succeed at stud.”

Fighting Irish joins recent new recruits Hot Streak (GB) and Mondialiste (Ire) on the six-strong roster at Haras d'Annebault near Deauville.

Niccolo Riva said, “We were very keen to stand such a fast son of Camelot and regard Fighting Irish as an excellent addition to our stallion roster. He is a wonderful specimen and we and our clients will be supporting him with a strong team of broodmares.”
