And it didn’t take long to land her first Group 1 victory, with Fernando Cazz taking out the Rookie Rebel (600m) at The Meadows on last Saturday’s opening night of the rich Australian Cup Carnival. “I thought am I going to makes something of myself being a number for a big trainer or am I going to do it myself,” the 18-year-old trainer told RSN’s Gareth Hall on Monday. The Pearcedale trailblazer now has her eyes set on a second Group 1, with Fernando Cazz and litter brother Fernando Bluey to almost certainly line up in this Saturday night’s heats of the Australian Cup.
