Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted June 20, 2018 Journalists Share Posted June 20, 2018 The National Thoroughbred Welfare Organization has partnered with Delta Downs and Evangeline Downs, which have agreed to provide financial assistance and other support to NTWO in their horse rehoming efforts in Louisiana. The NTWO focuses on intercepting retired Thoroughbreds from being sold to slaughter houses and will have a representative at the two tracks to assist horsemen. “While improvements have been made in aftercare of racing’s horses, there is still much to be done,” said NTWO President Victoria Keith. “We have a lot of work in front of us, but we’re excited to get started and make a difference in the lives of horses in Louisiana. We are grateful to Delta Downs and Evangeline Downs for taking the lead in working with us to fight the indefensible practice of horse slaughter and we encourage others to follow their lead.” View the full article
