Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted March 6, 2021 Journalists Share Posted March 6, 2021 Weyburn (c, 3, Pioneerof the Nile–Sunday Affair, by A.P. Indy) posted a 46-1 shocker in Saturday's GIII Gotham S. at Aqueduct. Drawn widest of all in post eight, he tracked GII San Vicente S. runner-up Freedom Fighter (Violence) from second, and outbattled Crowded Trade (More Than Ready), making just his second career start for Chad Brown, in a thrilling stretch duel to eke out a nose victory. Favored Highly Motivated (Into Mischief), a razor sharp winner of Keeneland's Nyquist S. for Brown on the Breeders' Cup undercard at Keeneland, was forced to steady leaving the chute and ran well to finish third. Weyburn was last seen earning his diploma at third asking going seven furlongs in the Aqueduct slop Dec. 5. Weyburn's third dam is the great Maplejinsky. The final time for the one-turn mile was 1:38.70. Lifetime Record: 4-2-1-0. O/B-Chiefswood Stables Limited (ON); T-James Jerkens.
