Steve and Amanda Telfer loved a pattern at Cambridge on Thursday night.

Not only did the brother-sister duo secure a winning treble, but their silks also finished third in each of those races as well.

Debutant Allamericanlover kicked off the night for the South Auckland trainers with a win in the Black Dog Furniture Mobile Pace (2200m).

The American Ideal filly began strongly, albeit greenly, from her wide gate to take an early lead for driver Benjamin Butcher.

They held out the challenge of Commander Cathy midway through the race to retain their lead and once again in the concluding stages to win by 1-1/4 lengths, with a further 3-1/2 lengths back to stablemate Nyla in third.

Allamericanlover headed into Thursday with two workout wins, boosting the confidence of her connections ahead of her debut.

“We thought she would go all right,” Amanda Telfer said. “She had been trialling well and we were quite happy with the way she was doing things and expected her to go pretty forward.”

Telfer was also pleased with Nyla’s third-placing.

“I thought Nyla’s run was an improvement on her recent efforts, which was good,” she said.

Two races later Ideal Prince recorded a neck victory over Alta Casino in the Brogden Horse Transport Mobile Pace (2200m), with stablemate Little Suzie finishing third.

“He (Ideal Prince) is a tough little bugger,” Telfer said. “He is so honest. He had to do a bit of work, but he was still too tough for them.

“His last start sixth was at Auckland and he got back in the field. He seems to run his best races when he is up in the first half of the field.

“Little Suzie did things right tonight. She has been making a few mistakes. She has got the ability, but those mistakes were costly and tonight she did everything right.”

Continuing the stable’s pattern of results for the night, Sarandon and Show Me Heaven finished first and third respectively in the Harcourts Te Awamutu Mobile Pace (2200m), securing a winning treble for the stable.

“Sarandon is an honest little mare that tries every time she goes out there,” Telfer said. “She got a penalty free win with a junior concession tonight, so that was very good.”
