Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted March 14, 2021 Journalists Share Posted March 14, 2021 A nervous GRV CEO Alan Clayton (pictured above) will put his fears aside as he takes to Neil’s Wheel this Friday to help raise funds for the Royal Children’s Hospital’s Good Friday Appeal. Alan, who has a fear of heights, will be joining GRV Chair Peita Duncan and Melbourne Storm superstar and greyhound racing enthusiast Ryan Papenhuyzen on the Melbourne Star Observation Wheel from 8.30am on Friday morning. The Neil’s Wheel promotion – hosted by 3AW talkback host Neil Mitchell – has become a staple in fundraising efforts for the hospital in recent years, with many high-profile personalities jumping on the wheel and staying on until they raise a minimum of funds, with this year’s target being $5,000. “Last year I was on the wheel with (GAP ambassador) Todd McKenney and I was petrified the whole time. When we finally got off the wheel Todd said ‘let’s go again’ and I nearly passed out at the thought of it,” Alan confessed. Located at the Docklands, the Melbourne Star Observation Wheel stands at 394 feet tall. Alan is urging the greyhound racing community to donate to GRV’s fundraising efforts early in the day so he can spend as little time on the wheel as possible.
