Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted March 20, 2021 Journalists Posted March 20, 2021 TRAVEL COLUMN (f, 3, Frosted–Swingit, by Victory Gallop) and the blue-blooded Clairiere (Curlin) were tied with one win apiece from their last two meetings on the GI Kentucky Oaks trail, but Travel Column broke that tie in impressive fashion Saturday back in NOLA in the GII Twinspires.com Fair Grounds Oaks. Assigned favoritism over her familiar foe at 2-1, the 'TDN Rising Star' stalked from second as fellow 'Rising Star' Souper Sensational (Curlin) dictated terms, clocking a :24.35 first quarter and :48.64 half-mile. Seizing command approaching the bend, the gray stormed clear of her competition in the lane. Clairiere tried to run her down in deep stretch, but never seriously threatened the leader, finishing a clear-cut second. A decisive debut winner at Churchill Downs Sept. 4, Travel Column checked in third in the GI Darley Alcibiades S. at Keeneland Oct. 2. Besting Clairiere for the first time in the GII Golden Rod S. back at Churchill Nov. 28, the $850,000 FTSAUG buy was run down by that foe next out, finishing a neck second in this venue's GII Rachel Alexandra S. Feb. 13. Lifetime Record: 5-3-1-1. O-OXO Equine LLC; B-Mr. & Mrs. Bayne Welker & Denali Stud (KY); T-Brad Cox.
