Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted March 26, 2021 Journalists Share Posted March 26, 2021 By Joshua Smith, Harness News Desk Cup queen She’s Tough will be vying for her third consecutive cup victory when she tackles the Whitestone Livestock Ltd Waimate Cup (3000m) on Sunday. The four-year-old mare has won the Hororata Cup and Waikouaiti Cup in her last two starts, both over 3000m, and trainer Brad Mowbray is hoping for a repeat result this weekend. “She seems to have found her niche with her good standing start manners and following the speed, she is quite happy,” Mowbray said. “We were thrilled to get a couple of cups in a couple of weeks. She got good trips both times, but she was good enough on the day. We were rapt with her.” With a month between runs, She’s Tough heads into Sunday in somewhat of a fresh state and Mowbray has been pleased with her work in the lead-up. “It is a month between runs, but she has been working well at home,” he said. “I think it is a slightly stronger field than she has been up against, and is back 10m, but she shouldn’t be without a show.” The spelling paddock is beckoning She’s Tough, but Mowbray said they will wait until after Sunday before making any plans. “We will play it by ear and see how she comes through Sunday,” he said. “She has had a reasonable season now, so she is due a break at some point.” Mowbray will also line-up Spicy Girl Becqui in the Farmlands Waimate Mobile Pace (2000m) and Gypsy in the Cunningham Plumbing Mobile Pace (2000m). “Spicy Girl Becqui was pretty disappointing on Sunday, we are not really sure why,” Mowbray said. “She has got another reasonable draw (3), but you just have to take her on trust, you don’t know what you are going to get with her. “I was really pleased with Gypsy on Sunday (when running fourth), it was a huge run. “She has drawn one on the second row, so she won’t have to cover any extra ground, but will need a bit of luck from there.
