LIKE THE KING (c, 3, Palace Malice–Like a Queen, by Corinthian) kicked home from well out of it to make the grade and pick up 100 qualifying points for the GI Kentucky Derby in Saturday's GIII Jeff Ruby Steaks. He stopped he clock in 1:50.22 and survived an objection. Sainthood (Mshawish) was second, beaten 3/4 of a length, while Hockey Dad (Nyquist) completed the trifecta. The winner was last seen finishing second in the John Battaglia Memorial S. here Feb. 26 after encountering some traffic trouble. Sales history: $28,000 wnlg '18 KEENOV; $170,000 ylg '19 OBSOCT.
