Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted April 3, 2021 Journalists Share Posted April 3, 2021 Cash Is King LLC & LC Racing's MISCHEVIOUS ALEX (c, 4, Into Mischief–White Pants Night, by Speightstown) validated 4-5 favoritism in Saturday's GI Carter H., coming away to score by about four lengths over MGISW Mind Control (Stay Thirsty). Souper Stonehenge (Speightstown) rallied late for third. The $75,000 Keeneland September yearling purchase settled in midpack through the opening furlongs as Chateau (Flat Out) cut out fractions of :23.09 and :45.89 over a track that has been yielding times well below par over the course of the past several days. Given the hurry-up with three furlongs to go, Mischevious Alex gained outside and he easily raced past the spent pacesetter and on to a comfortable victory. Winner of this track's GIII Gotham S. going a one-turn mile last March, Mischevious Alex entered this first attempt at the top level off victories in a Gulfstream allowance Jan. 10 and in the GIII Gulfstream Park Sprint S. Feb. 13. The ninth Grade I winner for his sire, Mischevious Alex is bred on the same cross as Mia Mischief and on the cross over Gone West responsible for champion and GI Breeders' Cup Classic hero Authentic. It was the second graded win on the program for Saffie Joseph, Jr., whose Drain the Clock (Maclean's Music) was the easy winner of the GIII Bay Shore S., albeit in a time fully two seconds slower than the Carter. Lifetime Record: 12-7-1-1.
