Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted April 3, 2021 Journalists Share Posted April 3, 2021 Making his first appearance on the dirt as a 5-1 chance in Saturday's GI Runhappy Santa Anita Derby, ROCK YOUR WORLD (c, 3, Candy Ride {Arg}–Charm the Maker, by Empire Maker) took to the surface like a duck to water, making all the running to best favored Medina Spirit (Protonico) by about five lengths while becoming the first North American Grade I winner for Umberto Rispoli. Perfect in two tries on the turf to begin his career, including this track's Pasadena S. Feb. 27, Rock Your World suggested his affinity for the local main track with a best-of-82 five furlongs that was clocked in :59 1/5 Mar. 28 and ran right to that morning trial. A bit faster than longshot Parnelli (Quality Road) to the first turn, the $650,000 Keeneland September graduate had to go hard through fractions of :22.42 and :46.11 as Medina Spirit was trapped out three wide in the breeze. Still going strongly entering the turn, Rock Your World went by the three-eighths peg in 1:10.64 and began to shake loose as Parnelli called it a day and as Medina Spirit was under the pump. Rock Your World raced a bit greenly in the stretch and was not smooth with his lead changes, but he'd done enough by then and earned a spot in the Kentucky Derby.
