Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted April 30, 2021 Journalists Share Posted April 30, 2021 OBLIGATORY (f, 3, Curlin–Uno Duo, by Macho Uno) came froom out of the clouds with a last-to-first victory in the GII Eight Belles S. at odds of 16-1. The Juddmonte homebred trailed the field as Euphoric (Frosted) showed the way with Windmill (Street Sense) and Dayoutoftheoffice (Into Mischief) keeping her honest through a swift first quarter in :21.89. Dayoutoftheoffice took control at the top of the lane with Obligatory still last. The favorite looked home free, but Obligatory was just winding up way out in the center of the track and unleashed a powerful late turn of foot, inhaling the field and cruising clear for a one-length score in 1:21.89. Fourth on debut in a six-panel event at Belmont Oct. 18, Obligatory earned her diploma next time going a mile at Gulfstream Feb. 7 and was fourth last out in the GII Fair Grounds Oaks Mar. 20. Lifetime Record: 4-2-0-0. O/B-Juddmonte Farms (KY); T-Bill Mott.
