Sent off at odds of 28-5 to give trainer Bob Baffert a rare graded winner on the turf, DU JOUR (c, 3, Temple City–Guiltless, by Bernardini) took advantage of a golden trip and gave jockey Flavien Prat his second graded winner of the afternoon on the green in the GII American Turf S. Settled better than midfield, with Columbia S. winner Winfromwithin (Into Mischief) just ahead of hin and favored 'TDN Rising Star' Annex (Constitution) just behind, Du Jour held his spot inside and followed a hedge-clipping move from Winfromwithin into the lane. Pulled into the two path to launch his rally in earnest approaching the furlong marker, Du Jour drove past Winfromwithin and onto the victory, as Lucky Law (Ire) (No Nay Never) ran on for second. Winfromwithin held third, while Annex lacked a late rally and settled for eighth as the 5-2 chalk. The win was the first graded score on the turf for Baffert since Kingly (Tapit) won the 2019 GII La Jolla H. Sales history: $19,000 Ylg '19 KEESEP; $280,000 2yo '20 OBSJUN. Lifetime Record: 5-3-1-1. O-Natalie Baffert & Debbie Lanni; B-Woods Edge Farm (KY); T-Bob Baffert.
