Experience told in Sunday's G1 Qipco 1000 Guineas at Newmarket, with Frankie Dettori the chief benefactor as he steered Ballydoyle's Mother Earth (Ire) (Zoffany {Ire}) to a clear-cut success in the Classic as the stable's Santa Barbara (Ire) (Camelot {GB}) ended up fourth. Switched off towards rear early racing on the far side, the 10-1 shot who was third in the course-and-distance G1 Fillies' Mile and runner-up in the GI Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf arrived full of running out wide to take the lead 1 1/2 furlongs out as the fellow Rosegreen representative Santa Barbara had an understandable moment of greenness. As the field spread across the track in the run to the line, Mother Earth was already gone beyond recall to provide O'Brien with a seventh renewal and fifth since 2016 and her 50-year-old rider with a fourth. A length second was Saffron Beach (Ire) (New Bay {GB}), who denied Fev Rover (Ire) (Gutaifan {Ire}) by a neck with the 5-2 joint-favourite Santa Barbara nosed out for fourth.
