Two of the sports brightest young prospects are set to battle it out at The Meadows tonight in what could be ‘a race for the ages’.

It’s Invictus Rising (Harry Manolitsis) versus Aston Fastnet (Jason Thompson) and in the Daily Mail’s Must Watch Race of the Day.

The Watchdog is leaning slightly towards Thompson’s young tyro, who has won four of his 10 starts to date.

Aston Fastnet announced himself as a potential megastar when smashing the clock at Ballarat and Sandown Park in March, and since then he turned in some big performances in the Launching Pad Series.”

This will be Aston Fastnet’s first time out of Box 7, but he does own an electrifying 29.11sec victory from Box 8 at Sandown.

Meanwhile, Invictus Rising has won six from 10, and he has shown some impressive qualities.

“Most of Invictus Rising’s wins have been in scorching times. However, last time out he turned in a gutsy performance when coming from off the pace to score at Sandown Park in a handy 29.69sec.”

“On that occasion, he showed that he can take a knock and keep coming and that is the sign of a great chaser,” The Watchdog said.

Check out The Watchdog’s extensive analysis of tonight’s ‘Must-Watch’ race, along with his best ‘Win’ and ‘Place’ bets in today’s edition of Daily Mail.
