Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted June 28, 2018 Journalists Share Posted June 28, 2018 The British Horseracing Authority will on Friday send owners a voluntary online survey to help investigate and better understand the aftercare of Thoroughbreds. This follows on from a survey sent to trainers earlier in the year and is an important part of developing the BHA’s equine health and welfare strategy, part of which is to improve traceability of Thoroughbred racehorses from foals to beyond retirement. David Sykes, director of Equine Health and Welfare at the BHA, said, “The survey we sent to trainers earlier in the year proved to be an extremely useful source of information regarding what happens to horses when they leave training yards, and I’m sure we will get plenty of information from owners too which will inform future work on improving racehorse traceability.” If you are an owner and do not receive a survey or would like a hard copy, email equine@britishhorseracing.com.
