Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted May 26, 2021 Journalists Share Posted May 26, 2021 Highview Stud stallion Wrote recorded his first New Zealand win as a sire when And We Danced (NZ) was victorious in the Yara Fertiliser 1100 at Hastings on Wednesday. The Bill Thurlow-trained two-year-old got back early after only being fair away for jockey Sarah Macnab. Turning for home they were met by a wall of horses, but a pocket opened with 250m to go and she was able to let down and get up by a short head over Express Desire. Highview Stud principal Brent Gillovic was pleased with the result and he now expects to see a steady stream of winners by his stallion on New Zealand tracks. “It was fantastic. I didn’t think she was going to get up, but it was a big effort,” he said. “They are not really two-year-olds. Bill (Thurlow) said this filly really wasn’t a two-year-old and she will only get better. “She showed a real will to get up and win, and had a great turn of foot in the end.” Wrote has been well supported by New Zealand breeders and will once again stand at Highview Stud this coming season for a fee of $5,000+GST. “The mail on them is that they show a bit of speed and on the whole they are big, leggy horses,” Gillovic said. “He is well priced at $5,000 and people have recognised that. He has covered 338 mares in his first four years, he has got every chance.” The post First NZ winner for Wrote appeared first on BOAY Racing News.
