Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted June 4, 2021 Journalists Share Posted June 4, 2021 What Winter Cup Day 2021 Where Rosehill Gardens Racecourse – James Ruse Dr, Rosehill NSW 2142 When Saturday, June 5, 2021 First Race 11:20am AEST Feature Race Race 7 – 2021 Winter Cup Watch Live Streaming Live at Sportsbet HorseBetting’s New South Wales form analyst brings to you his best bets, value picks, quaddie numbers and Winter Cup tips for Rosehill Gardens’ nine-race program on Saturday, June 5. The track is rated a Good 4, and the rail is out 6m from the 1350m to the winning post and then 4m for the remainder of the course. The first race is due to jump at 11:20am AEST. 2021 Winter Cup racing tips Shaun Ritchie and Colm Murray bring across the ditch their six-year-old gelding The Good Fight off the back of a dominant 3.75-length victory in the Group 3 Rotorua Cup on May 15. The son of High Chapparal has previously had a stint in Australia, which saw his best result come as a runner-up to Mrs Madrid at this track over 2000m and culminated with a seven-length defeat to Surprise Baby in The Bart Cummings. Jumping from barrier seven under Jay Ford, this galloper is going to get a terrific run in transit and should be finishing strongly over the concluding stages. He’s a great each-way bet at double-figure odds with leading online bookmakers. Winter Cup Best BetRace 7 – The Good Fight (#4) $17 with Sportsbet Rosehill’s best bet of the day Cody Morgan’s untapped three-year-old Ice In Vancouver lines up in a Class 3 Highway Handicap on Saturday as the favourite, and after a brilliant first-up win at Tamworth he should be extremely hard to beat. The son of Vancouver has won three of his four starts, with the gelding’s only defeat being when he suffered cardiac arrhythmia during The Kosciuszko back in October, so that can be forgiven. Barrier 15 is far from ideal in this 1100m contest, but provided he jumps cleanly, Tim Clark can have him up on the speed rolling along and make him too hard to catch. He’s a class above these and should win accordingly. Best BetRace 2 – Ice In Vancouver (#1) $2.20 with Sportsbet Next best bet for Rosehill Richard & Michael Freedman’s Love Tap was ridden upside down first-up at Doomben over 1350m, settling towards the rear and flashing home to run seventh in a blanket finish. The big grey was backed off the map, but it was the punters who were floored by his below-average run. The three-year-old gelding did look to just need that hitout, though, and now up to 1500m and back to a track where he has won at in the past, he should be able to get back into the winner’s circle. Tim Clark is a terrific front-running jockey, so from barrier eight we hope he rides the son of Tapit accordingly to make every post a winner. Next BestRace 6 – Love Tap (#2) $3.50 with Sportsbet Best value bet for Rosehill Four-year-old Matowatakpe was a brilliant trial-winner here over 900m back on May 11, saluting under very light riding down the centre of the track. The Bjorn Baker-trained runner tends to race quite well fresh, with three minor placings from four first-up runs, and is going to get every chance here under Jason Collett, who has ridden the gelding once for a third-place finish. The son of Dream Ahead can handle all surfaces and should be stalking a hot tempo from barrier two. Provided that the runs come, this one can do enough to earn a cheque.
