Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted June 12, 2021 Journalists Share Posted June 12, 2021 Opacity (NZ) (Ocean Park) led home a New Zealand-bred trifecta at Randwick on Saturday in the Heineken Racing To Win Handicap (1600m). The son of Ocean Park was third up this preparation and bounced back after a disappointing effort three weeks ago to pull away over the concluding stages and record a 1.53 length win. Jockey Reece Jones, who completed a winning treble with the victory, was over the moon as he returned to scale to the cheers of the crowd. “I was flat out riding one (winner) but to come away with a double and then a treble on top of that, it’s outstanding,” he said. “A big thank you to Mr. O’Shea today and Champion Thoroughbreds for giving me the ride. Really, really pleased to bring up my first treble.” Opacity jumped well and was able to sit in a great position just forward of midfield in the running. Jones pulled him into the clear as they turned for home and waited patiently, before pressing the button as Opacity broke away to win easily over Order Again (NZ) (Iffraaj) and Kirwan’s Lane (NZ) (Charm Spirit). The talented chestnut sports the colours of Champion Thoroughbreds, with principal Jason Abrahams having purchased Opacity in conjunction with Trainer John O’Shea and Harry Chittick for $70,000 from the Landsdowne Park draft during Book 1 at the Karaka Yearling Sales in 2018.
