Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted June 17, 2021 Journalists Share Posted June 17, 2021 There was to be no fourth Gold Cup for Stradivarius (Ire) (Sea the Stars {Ire}) as the king of Royal Ascot surrendered his crown to the impressive Subjectivist (GB) (Teofilo {Ire}) on Thursday. While the three-times winner was stuck in traffic on the inside three out, the Mark Johnston runner was already cutting loose under Joe Fanning and while Frankie eventually got the 5-6 favourite in the clear he was too far adrift at the top of the straight to make a difference. Subjectivist, who was coming here off a break having followed up his G1 Prix Royal-Oak win in the G2 Dubai Gold Cup at Meydan Mar. 27, was a worthy winner whatever the fortunes of the Gosden icon and the 13-2 shot hit the line typically strongly to record a five-length verdict over Princess Zoe (Ger) (Jukebox Jury {Ire}), with Spanish Mission (Noble Mission {GB}) half a length away in third and Stradivarius 1 3/4 lengths further behind in fourth.
