Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted June 20, 2021 Journalists Share Posted June 20, 2021 Make no secret, Aussie Secret is an ‘eight carat’ sprinter. Prepared by master Pearcedale trainer Jason Thompson, Aussie Secret was considered drawn ‘inside out’ in tonight’s $75,000 to-the-winner Pink Diamond Short Course Sprinter final (425m) at Bendigo. But strangely, for a greyhound preferred drawn out wide, he notched his fifth win from eight starts from box one. In fact, Aussie Secret left his ‘diamond-cut’ rivals – including ‘next big thing’ and dual country cups winner Ferdinand Boy, two-time G1 finalist Shima Classic, dual track record holder Oriental Amber and short-course sensation Benchester – in his wake. Aussie Secret nailed the start and was off and gone. He did shift off the track but used the ‘red’ trap to advantage. Owned and bred by Robert Bean of Tinamba in Gippsland, Aussie Secret ($5.00) defeated Dr. Knuckles ($30.40) by 5.4L, with Ferdinand Boy ($2.00F) a further 1.1L away third in 23.77sec. It was his 21st win from 43 starts, with his stakes catapulting to $150,501, and he maintained his perfect record of three from three over this track/distance. And Bean collected a $11,250 breeder’s bonus courtesy of “Bobby”, as he’s affectionately known. Aussie Secret (Oct ’18 Bernardo x Susnet Believer) was a finalist in this year’s G1 Silver Chief, G2 Horsham Cup and G2 Ballarat Cup. “I saw him jump well and once the field jammed up, I knew he’d be hard to catch,” handler Luke Thompson said. “He won the Vic Breeders here last year around Bendigo Cup time… Robert Bean will be over the moon tonight.” PINK DIAMONDCHAMPION SHORT COURSE AUSSIE SECRET (Jason Thompson / Robert Bean) DR.
