Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted June 21, 2021 Journalists Share Posted June 21, 2021 AT THE SPA (f, 2, Outwork–Spa Creek, by Smoke Glacken) dueled early and kept finding late to take Sunday's Fasig-Tipton Debutante S. and cap a big weekend for breeder and co-owner Terry Lovingier. The Cal-bred aired by seven lengths here in open company May 7, and was further flattered when runner-up Munny Penny (Munnings)–also bred and owned by Lovingier–returned to romp herself. At the Spa was given a 9-5 second choice chance behind only Florida invader Laurel Canyon (Nyquist), and she dueled with that foe from the outset through splits of :22.17 and :46.40 before pulling clear in the final furlong. Munny Penny overtook Laurel Canyon for second. Lovingier also bred and co-owns Saturday's Melair S. winner Fi Fi Pharoah (American Pharoah). Sales history: $37,000 RNA yrl '20 FTCAYR.
