The Group 1 $600,000 Sky Racing Tattersall’s Tiara (1400m) brings an end to elite level racing for the season in Brisbane on Saturday and it shapes-up as an open affair with the likes of Tofane, Savatiano and Odeum all drawing wide for the Eagle Farm feature.

The Tattersall’s Tiara 2021 field features a capacity line-up of fillies and mares and the markets at Ladbrokes.com.au are led by Michael Moroney’s Stradbroke Handicap winner Tofane.

The in-form Ocean Park five-year-old was good at double-figure in Queensland’s richest race at the same track and distance a fortnight back when defeating Vega One by a half-length in the Stradbroke.

She goes up in weight meeting a field of her own kind at weight-for-age in the Tiara with Craig Williams retaining the ride.

Srikandi (2015) was the last mare to complete the Stradbroke – Tattersall’s Tiara double and, despite her wide barrier 14 draw, Tofane is the $5 favourite to repeat the feat this weekend.

Following closely in Tattersall’s Tiara betting is the early market mover, last spring’s Group 1 Thousand Guineas winning filly Odeum.

Sydney-based jockey James McDonald has been in outstanding form this season and partners the well-supported Written Tycoon filly who has her 10th career start in the Tiara.

Odeum has won three of her nine starts to date and run second a further three times including last start in the Group 2 Dane Ripper Stakes (1200m) on Stradbroke Day.

She was wide in that key Tiara lead-up (13 of 15) and will jump from around the same position again against a number of the same rivals on Saturday after drawing gate 15 (before emergencies coming out).

The Dane Ripper Stakes winner Brooklyn Hustle looks value at current Tattersall’s Tiara odds of $11, the Jason Warren & Dean Krongold-trained Starspangledbanner four-year-old to be ridden by local Gold Coast-based hoop Michael Cahill.

Cahill got the call-up to partner the in-form chestnut after her Dane Ripper hoop Williams jumped off to partner Tofane in the Group 1.

In her other most recent run, Brooklyn Hustle had Jamie Kah aboard for a 1.5 length victory in Adelaide’s Group 3 Proud Miss Stakes (1200m), but the star female hoop is unable to make the trip to Queensland due to COVID-19 border closures.

“We went with some local knowledge,” Warren told Racenet speaking of the Cahill booking.

“We are very happy, he knows his way around there.

“It makes a difference with her, we needed someone who is patient and has good hands so I think he is the man for the job.”

Savatiano meanwhile is at single-figures to return to winning form, the Godolphin-raced Street Cry six-year-old at $9 to overcomer her wide gate 16 draw.

Joshua Parr comes aboard the James Cummings-trained mare who won Sydney’s Group 1 Canterbury Stakes (1300m0 back in March and was narrow runner-up to Kolding in the Group 1 All Aged Stakes (1400m).

Things came undone for her in Eagle Farm’s Group 1 Kingsford-Smith Cup (1300m) on May 29, but she had excuses being trapped wide throughout before finishing off strongly.

A better position in the run on Saturday in the Tiara and Savatiano presents as a genuine winning chance having beaten some true racehorses over the autumn in Sydney.

In the mix also are a trio for leading Group 1 winning trainer for the season – Chris Waller – who saddles-up luckless Stradbroke fifth-placed Subpoenaed ($10), Sapphire Stakes winner last time out Nudge ($13) and Dane Ripper third placed Madam Rouge ($18).

The Tattersall’s Tiara is scheduled to run as Eagle Farm Race 8 at 3:58pm (AEST) on Brisbane’s race card this Saturday.
