Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted June 30, 2021 Journalists Share Posted June 30, 2021 Ballarat will play host to some extraordinary racing on Wednesday evening including the appearance of Collinda Beast (7 from 15), a greyhound with group potential who is two from two since transferring to Jason Thompson’s team. A number of fascinating clashes will also play out at Ballarat including former track record holder Benchester v multiple group finalist Aussie Secret, Blackpool Flash (23 from 43) v Interrogate (won past 3) and Handsome Jack (4 of past 8) v former Shepparton track record holder Paddy’s Marvel. Earlier on Wednesday, elite female sprinter Aston Gwen (5-time group finalist) will go around at The Meadows, while Papi Go Fast (22 from 39) and ageless five-year-old Slingshot Hammer (37 from 104) are among the big names racing at Cranbourne tonight. Here’s an extensive analysis of Wednesday’s Must Watch Race, and be sure to scroll down further for The Watchdog’s $10 spend… MUST-WATCH RACE: GAP Final (3 – 6 Wins) YOHAN BALE LANGFIELD BALE COLLINDA BEAST Ballarat Race 6 450m 8:41pm Form https://watchdog.grv.org.au/meeting/565960253/race/6 The Watchdog says : Awesome line-up and greyhound fans get to watch a chaser who is about to go to the next level and has megastar potential. COLLINDA BEAST (6) had always shown enormous ability, however since joining the Thompson kennel he is unbeaten in two runs and, with a clear run early, he could give the 25 seconds barrier a nudge. He will need an ounce of luck initially, but he has a wide runner on his outside so he should get plenty of cover and prove hard to hold out. YOHAN BALE (2) is a serious up and comer in his own right and he has turned in some stellar performances of late. With an average beginner drawn on his inside, he should be able to cross the red in the initial stages and, with the ability to carve out time he will make the top elect work hard throughout. IRENE’S A STAR (7) is an honest type blessed with slick early speed. She will need a few things to go her way, but if the punters’ elects happen to find bother she could be off and gone with the prize. LANGFIELD BALE (4) is the interesting runner. He relies heavily on luck in his races, but he is blessed with a V12 motor and can come out running on occasions. It should be a thrilling race throughout and this could be a steppingstone for the ‘beast’ before he heads back to town. Selections: 6 – 2 – 7 – 4 THE WATCHDOG’S $10 INVESTMENT Wednesday 30 June $4 Multi First : Place – MEPUNGA FREDA Meadows Race 2 Box 4 525m 12:14pmTAB fixed odds: $1.45 Place (top two finish required) Form https://watchdog.grv.org.au/meeting/565960251/race/2 Second : Place – COCO LILLY Bendigo Race 10 Box 1 425m 5:19pmTAB fixed odds: $1.35 Place Form https://watchdog.grv.org.au/meeting/675707718/race/10 Third : Place – MCIVOR ERNIE Bendigo Race 11 Box 6 425m 5:41pmTAB fixed odds: $1.40 Place Form https://watchdog.grv.org.au/meeting/675707718/race/11 Fourth : Place – KAYDEN’S TIGER Cranbourne Race 6 Box 1 520m 8:28pmTAB fixed odds: $1.26 Place (top two finish required) Form https://watchdog.grv.org.au/meeting/565960254/race/6 The Watchdog says : MEPUNGA FREDA (4) was brilliant in her return to racing, and she will appreciate the smaller line-up today. COCO LILLY (1) is racing with confidence and she is drawn to get all the breaks. MCIVOR ERNIE (6) likes to scout wide in his races and he has a tremendous record this track/distance, so with an ounce of luck early a top three finish looks likely. KAYDEN’S TIGER (1) has the class edge and he will get plenty of cover early on, so a top two finish is on the cards. Multi price: $3.45 $2.50 Win – LALA HIBISCUS Bendigo Race 5 Box 3 500m 3:32pmTAB fixed odds: $2.30 Win Form https://watchdog.grv.org.au/meeting/675707718/race/5 The Watchdog says : She has been racing well in much stronger company of late and with the early pace drawn in one and two she should get a nice run through in the middle stages and will be very strong in the run home. There is not a lot of depth in this event, so with an ounce of luck early she should get every chance to return to the winners list. $2 Win – WEST SONG $1 Win – CRAZY OLD FOOL Bendigo Race 7 Boxes 1 & 3 425m 4:14pmTAB fixed odds: $3.00 Win (West Song) TAB fixed odds: $7.00 Win (Crazy Old Fool) Form https://watchdog.grv.org.au/meeting/675707718/race/7 The Watchdog says : Very keen on WEST SONG (3) as she has been racing extremely well in good company of late and will find this event a lot easier. Her box manners are solid, and she possesses a terrific turn of foot once balanced, so if given enough room initially she should settle in a threatening position. We have had a small saver bet on CRAZY OLD FOOL (1). He is a bit of a box one bandit and he showed a return to form with a handy 22.38sec Ballarat win, so if the top elect makes any mistakes early the red should be there to capitalise. $1.50 Place – HIGH ACTION Ballarat Race 6 Box 1 450m 8:41pm ***Must Watch Race***TAB fixed odds: $3.40 Place Form https://watchdog.grv.org.au/meeting/675707718/race/7 The Watchdog says : I have not included him in my top four selections as I believe there are better winning chances, however from the inside draw I think he is a terrific place hope at value. He has been racing in consistent style of late and he likes to scrape the paint, so if there is some bunching at the bend he should get a nice run through and turn for home in a prominent position and he will be strong in the closing stages.
