Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted July 12, 2021 Journalists Share Posted July 12, 2021 A fascinating Restricted Win Final over 450m is among the highlights tonight at Shepparton featuring Beretta Boy (3 from 5 Trk/Dst) v Invictus Jaxson (25.18sec PB) v Studley (2 from 3 Box 4) v Pure Quality (multiple city winner). Invictus Jaxson is The Watchdog’s top pick, while another who should be respected is G1-bred Alfie Alligator (Barcia Bale x Maja Mahi Mahi), who has won 4 from 9. Meanwhile, it’s hard to ‘imagine’ one of The Watchdog’s ‘Bets of the Day’, Visualiser (6 from 13), not winning on this program. He’s returned from a four-month spell to win two of his past three starts. Shepparton hogs Monday’s greyhound racing limelight in Victoria – including another three tantalising tussles – most notably Aubameyang (won 4 of past 6) v G2 Bendigo Cup finalist Slingshot Titan (27 from 52) v Sonny Daze (G3 Northern Districts Cup). Further piquing punters’ interest is Healesville Oaks runner-up Gunai Rebel (11 from 25) v ex-NSW star Sovereign King (12 from 36), the latter being a Kings of Healesville (3rd) and Listed Goulburn Cup finalist. Plus, Up The Amount (2 from 4 Box 1) v Queen Redeem (won 4 of past 6) in the $8K GRV Vic Bred Distance (1-6 Wins) final over 650m also looks a ripper. Here’s an extensive analysis of tonight’s Must Watch Race, and be sure to scroll down further for The Watchdog’s $10 spend… MUST-WATCH RACE: Top Cat Video (3-6 Wins) Final BERETTA BOY INVICTUS JAXSON STUDLEY PURE QUALITY Shepparton Race 5 450m 8:23pm Form https://watchdog.grv.org.au/meeting/666541454/race/5 The Watchdog says : Great line-up with some explosive speedsters set for a great battle. BERETTA BOY (1) has been ultra-impressive in his brief career, and he has been super around this track/distance having won three of five. He did not have a lot of luck in his heat after missing the kick, however from the red draw tonight he should step a lot better and that may allow him to hold the initial lead. With the ability to run sub-25.20sec, he will take a power of beating. INVICTUS JAXSON (2) is a gifted chaser when at his peak and, after a gutsy run when resuming here last week, he should be better for the run and may reel in the red. He has scored some sizzling wins around this circuit and Sandown Park in his brief career and it is great to see him back on the track after a few injuries. PURE QUALITY (5) relies on luck, but he is a genuine beast, and he just needs a clear crack in the middle stages. Two runs back, he was dominant in his 25.28sec win here and a similar performance tonight can see him figure prominently again. JODIE’S BOY (6) is an interesting runner. He is rising a little in class, but he loves racing around this circuit and he will be very strong in the run home, so he may cause an upset. STUDLEY (4) is a serious up and comer and he was brilliant last week, however he is poorly drawn again and will need to do everything right at box rise. Selections: 2 – 1 – 5 – 6 THE WATCHDOG’S $10 INVESTMENT Monday 12 July $2 Multi First : Place – LITTLE TIGER Warrnambool Race 6 Box 3 450m 12:19amTAB fixed odds: $1.55 Place Form https://watchdog.grv.org.au/meeting/666541456/race/6 Second : Win – BRILLIANT BRIAN Ballarat Race 5 Box 1 545m 4:07pmTAB fixed odds: $1.60 Win Form https://watchdog.grv.org.au/meeting/666541453/race/5 Third : Win – VISUALISER Shepparton Race 9 Box 6 450m 9:38pmTAB fixed odds: $2.40 Win Form https://watchdog.grv.org.au/meeting/666541454/race/9 The Watchdog says : LITTLE TIGER (3) will appreciate the drop in class and, with a lack of pace drawn inside, he can pounce on the lead and run a big race. BRILLIANT BRIAN (1) looks the leader, and he has a fair bit on his rivals. VISUALISER (6) has been impressive since resuming and, with an ounce of luck early, he should get the cash. Multi price: $5.95 $2 Win – SENOR SENOR Shepparton Race 3 Box 1 385m 7:43pmTAB fixed odds: $3.40 Win Form https://watchdog.grv.org.au/meeting/666541454/race/3 The Watchdog says : SENOR SENOR (1) is armed with dynamic early speed and from the inside draw he can pounce on the early lead and his bold front running ability should shine through. He has been racing in much stronger company and should find this a lot easier, so with a clean getaway there should be no excuses. $2 Place – JODIE’S BOY Shepparton Race 5 Box 6 450m 8:23pm ***Must Watch Race***TAB fixed odds: $2.90 Place Form https://watchdog.grv.org.au/meeting/666541454/race/5 The Watchdog says : I have only tipped him for fourth as I believe there are better winning chances, however he is always thereabouts in this company, and he appears to be value to run a place. He has always done his best racing here and he is capable of leading or coming from off the pace, so with an ounce of luck at the bend he can figure prominently. $2 Win – DUCKY’S DELIGHT $2 Win – KRAKEN CANDY Shepparton Race 7 Boxes 1 & 2 450m 9:03pmTAB fixed odds: $4.20 Win (Ducky’s Delight) TAB fixed odds: $4.20 Win (Kraken Candy) Form https://watchdog.grv.org.au/meeting/666541454/race/7 The Watchdog says : Strong event and I think the inside division can hold the lead at the bend and then go on to dominate the event. DUCKY’S DELIGHT (1) has always done his best racing here and he is expected to fire after a freshen up, whilst KRAKEN CANDY (2) is a powerful type and, if she can follow the red through early, she should enter the bend in a threatening position and will be strong in the run home.
