Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted July 17, 2021 Journalists Share Posted July 17, 2021 Tribhuvan (Fr) (g, 5, Toronado {Ire}–Mahendra {Ger}, by Next Desert {Ire}), the 8-5 favorite, went right to the lead and never looked back to win the GI United Nations S. by three lengths at Monmouth Park Saturday. The bay gelding was under a snug hold and was well clear of the rest of the field while setting moderate fractions in the 1 3/8-mile marathon. His lead evaporated around the final bend, but he scampered away again into the home stretch and was unchallenged to the wire. Imperador (Arg) (Treasure Beach {GB}) was second and Epic Bromance (Kitten's Joy) was third. Tribhuvan captured his first stateside victory in an optional claimer at Belmont Park last July, but was on the sidelines for 10 months before returning with a front-running victory in the May 1 GII Fort Marcy S. He was second to Domestic Spending after setting the pace in the June 5 GI Manhattan S. last time out. Lifetime Record: 19-5-3-3. O-Michael Dubb, Madaket Stables, Wonder Stables & Michael Caruso. B-Jean Charles Halmet, Elza & Hannah Petit (Fr). T-Chad Brown.
