Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted July 23, 2021 Journalists Share Posted July 23, 2021 Jason Thompson will produce the headline act at Geelong tonight in boom prospect Rebellious (9 from 11), while other prominent runners on the card include Perfect Product (9 from 17 – 5 of past 7) and Rocket Boy (24 from 48). Meanwhile, four-time G1 finalist Catch The Thief will be striving to ‘steal’ the limelight for Thompson at Sale when he takes on G3 Launching Pad winner Kuro Kismet in what shapes as a show-stopping contest. Catch The Thief (24 from 53) hasn’t raced at Sale since February 2020, only his fifth start, while Kuro Kismet (11 from 32 – 1 from 1 Trk/Dst) will provide stern opposition after notching up two confidence-boosting victories at Sandown Park. Catch The Thief’s kennelmate Aussie Secret (23 from 46 – 4 of past 5 – 3 from 5 Trk/Dst) is looking to continue his hot recent form in a clash with Soda Prince (9 from 25 – 3 from 3 Trk/Dst). Collinda Beast (8 from 18 – 3 of past 5), another runner from the potent Thompson team, will tackle the improving Lakeview Lola (3 of past 5), which wasn’t disgraced in a heat of the G3 Fireball last weekend after notching up a Sale hat-trick. At Bendigo, standout runners include youngster Kraken Stinger (2 from 4), coming off a near-record 385m romp at Shepparton earlier in the week, Fortuna Bale (27 from 63 – 6 from 13 Box 1) and course specialist Masked Avenger (11 from 24 – 6 from 8 Trk/Dst). Here’s an extensive analysis of today’s Must Watch Race, and be sure to scroll down further for The Watchdog’s $10 spend… MUST-WATCH RACE: TAB – Long May We Play Free For All WEBLEC RAIDER KINSON BALE REBELLIOUS WEBLEC SCOUT Geelong Race 8 460m 9:28pm Form https://watchdog.grv.org.au/meeting/666541492/race/8 The Watchdog says : Racing fans are in for a treat tonight as we get to see excitement machine REBELLIOUS (6) strut his stuff again. He has won nine of 11 to date and has shown enormous potential from the outset, however he has really gone to another level in his past three wins. He recently captured the rich Prospector Final at Bendigo in a blinding 23.42sec and he followed that up with a scorching 25.49sec win at Warragul. Tonight, he is aided by a vacant draw on his inside so, with an even getaway, he should burst to the lead and a sub-25.50sec run could be on the cards. KINSON BALE (3) is far better than his form indicates, and he is better suited back to this distance range. His box manners can sometimes let him down, but he does possess a wonderful turn of foot and he should sit a couple of lengths off the top elect for most of the journey. WEBLEC SCOUT (7) has recorded some brilliant wins around The Meadows and he will be very strong in the run home. I do not think he can topple the favourite, but he may be able to sneak into some minor money. WEBLEC RAIDER (2) burst on to the scene with three terrific wins and captured the rich Pink Diamond Maiden Sprinter Final at Bendigo in the process. He has not had a lot of luck since, however, we all know he is a tremendous talent, and an improved performance is expected. It should be a great race throughout and fingers crossed REBELLIOUS (6) does everything right at box rise and he can rattle the clock. MORE SPEED (3) should give him a cart across early and he can light them up at the first bend. LAKEVIEW LOLA (8) was super impressive here two runs back and she should go with COLLINDA BEAST (6) for most of the journey. CATCH THE THIEF (8) should be able to settle in front of KURO KISMET (7) and that should be the end of the section. DISTINGUISH (2) looks the goods in the first leg, however we have taken a second quaddie with DON’T ARGUE LOVE (4) and LEDGERWOOD LIBBY (8) in the hope of securing some value. COLDEN DAYTO (1) has the inside draw in the second leg and is expected to lead throughout. ROCKET BOY (6) is a ridiculous talent, and he should put them to bed soon after box rise, whilst REBELLIOUS (6) is a potential megastar and should be winning the last leg. $4 Win – FREYA BALE Geelong Race 9 Box 4 400m 9:48pmTAB fixed odds: $2.70 Win Form https://watchdog.grv.org.au/meeting/666541492/race/9 The Watchdog says : She kicked off her career with two stellar Bendigo wins, however she has struggled a little since. Tonight, I am expecting her to begin a little better and she has proven to be a different chaser when out in front, so if she can assume control early, she will be off and gone through the bend and $2.70 appears to be value.
