The Goffs UK August Sale, this year extended to two days, opened at Doncaster on Wednesday with a session of horses in training achieving an 88% clearance rate.

Topping trade was 5-year-old pointer Secret Scripture (GB) (Mount Nelson {GB}) (lot 97), who was hammered down to Tom Malone for £50,000. He was offered by Donnchadh Doyle, who sold two of the top four lots on the day, also including Etincelle Artiste (Fr) (Great Pretender {Ire}) (lot 129), who made £40,000 from Nick Alexander.

The second top lot was Canford Light (Ire) (Canford Cliffs {Ire}) (lot 22), a recent winner over hurdles who fetched £42,000 from Evan Williams.
