Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted August 10, 2021 Journalists Share Posted August 10, 2021 Who gets the family bragging rights – Weblec Raider (Jeff Britton) v Mepunga Grace (Angela Langton)? Langton will be hoping it’s the ‘will of Grace’ when the talented duo lines up in a Restricted Win (3-6 Wins) final over 485m at Horsham this afternoon. Weblec Raider (3 from 7) won his first three starts but had had no luck of late, while Mepunga Grace (4 from 12) has won three of her past six. Expert form analyst The Watchdog says She Can Excite (5 from 16 – 3 of past 4) and Mystify Kick (3 from 13 – 2 of past 3) also have claims. Two country stars – Masked Avenger (11 from 25) and Man Absconded (23 from 65) – also highlight the Horsham fixture. Masked Avenger (3 from 4 Box 1), who was a Listed Western Districts Derby finalist, contests a Grade 5 over 410m, while Man Absconded (6 from 11 Box 2) lines up in a Free For All over 410m. Meanwhile, at Warragul tonight, Security Man (5 from 13 – 5 of past 8) v King Of Glory (6 from 14) is a key clash in a Restricted Win (3-6 Wins) final over 460m. Security Man is 2 from 2 Box 4. And Propelled (2 from 4) is a youngster who has launched his career in style! Here’s an extensive analysis of today’s Must Watch Race, and be sure to scroll down further for The Watchdog’s $10 spend… MUST-WATCH RACE: Tab.com.au (3 – 6 Wins) Final MYSTIFY KICK WEBLEC RAIDER MEPUNGA GRACE SHE CAN EXCITE Horsham Race 5 485m 4:52pm Form https://watchdog.grv.org.au/meeting/666538453/race/5 The Watchdog says : Great race and it features quite a few serious up-and-comers. WEBLEC RAIDER (6) captured the rich Pink Diamond Maiden final at Bendigo back in June and has been luckless since. Although beaten in his heat, his run was still impressive, and he would have derived a lot of benefit from that run. He missed the kick and had to work hard throughout, so with a better beginning, he should settle in the top three and take a power of beating. Kennelmate MEPUNGA GRACE (7) is another who didn’t have a lot of luck in her heat, and she too is expected to make amends. Two runs back, she powered to the line when scoring at Warrnambool in a slick 25.34sec and she appears to be getting better with every run. SHE CAN EXCITE (8) is the interesting runner; she can be a little hit or miss early but she has electric pace soon after box rise, and she should get a nice cart across in the initial stages. After a string of luckless performances, she showed fans her true ability when notching up a hat-trick of wins at Warrnambool in recent weeks. MYSTIFY KICK (3) rounds out the ‘big guns’. He’s still learning what it’s all about but announced himself as a potential star when carving out a blistering 27.10sec win here two runs back. If given a clear run, he’ll prove very hard to hold out. However, there’s a concern he may get crowded in the initial stages. I can’t wait to see this race unfold, and these chasers are all worth following going forward. Selections: 6 – 7 – 8 – 3 THE WATCHDOG’S $10 INVESTMENT Tuesday 10 August $3 Multi First : Win – RAMBO BOBBIE Healesville Race 1 Box 8 350m 10:27amTAB fixed odds: $1.45 Win Form https://watchdog.grv.org.au/meeting/666538451/race/1 Second : Win – ST. MARYS PANDA (8) are both ideally drawn, and I expect them to both lead throughout. HA HA MAGOO (4) will appreciate the smaller line-up and will really get into his work in the middle stages. Multi price: $4.55 $2.50 Multi First : Place – XAVI BALE Geelong Race 4 Box 8 460m 3:02pmTAB fixed odds: $1.60 Place (top two finish required) Form https://watchdog.grv.org.au/meeting/666538452/race/4 Second : Place – BUFFET BARON Geelong Race 8 Box 3 460m 4:21pmTAB fixed odds: $1.50 Place (top two finish required) Form https://watchdog.grv.org.au/meeting/666538452/race/8 The Watchdog says : XAVI BALE (8) is showing promise and won’t get a better chance to break his maiden, so a top two finish looks likely. BUFFET BARON (2) is a powerful type and should get a nice run through in the middle stages. So, with an ounce of luck early, he should figure in the finish. Multi price: $2.40 $2.50 Multi First : Place – PEPONI BALE Horsham Race 4 Box 6 410m 4:37pmTAB fixed odds: $1.80 Place (top two finish required) Form https://watchdog.grv.org.au/meeting/666538453/race/4 Second : Win – MASKED AVENGER Horsham Race 10 Box 1 410m 6:20pmTAB fixed odds: $1.40 Win Form https://watchdog.grv.org.au/meeting/666538453/race/10 Third : Place – IVY ISOBEL Warragul Race 4 Box 4 400m 7:45pmTAB fixed odds: $1.55 Place Form https://watchdog.grv.org.au/meeting/666538454/race/4 The Watchdog says : PEPONI BALE (6) will appreciate the empty draw and should put a space in them mid-race. MASKED AVENGER (1) is an absolute jet and should lead from go-to-whoa. IVY ISOBEL (4) is airborne at present and just needs a clear crack in the middle stages. Multi price: $3.90 $2 Quaddie – 8.33% (24 combinations) Horsham Races 5 – 8 4:52pm ***Includes Must Watch Race***Form https://watchdog.grv.org.au/meeting/666538453/race/5 : 6,7,8: 1: 1,8: 1,2,4,7 The Watchdog says : The first leg features several exciting chasers; however, I think the outside division can control the race. BLAZER GLORY (1) is a serious prospect and is drawn to lead throughout. The wings can dominate the third leg, while the last leg is a little more open, so we have gone wide.
