Saturday's G2 BetVictor Hungerford S. at Newbury was one for the fillies, as Cheveley Park Stud's Sacred (GB) (Exceed and Excel {Aus}) came back after a break to dominate the colts and older horses in the seven-furlong feature. Impressive in the G3 Nell Gwyn S. over this trip at Newmarket Apr. 14, she had failed to see out the mile of the G1 1000 Guineas when seventh there May 2 and had been forced to miss the G1 Commonwealth Cup and G3 Oak Tree S. due to the summer storms. Restrained in rear early by a confident Tom Marquand, the 6-1 shot sliced between rivals passing two out to surge to the fore with 150 yards remaining. Chased by Laneqash (GB) (Cable Bay {Ire}) to the line, she was always holding that seasonal debutante to score by a length as the 3-year-olds dominated.
