Clairiere (Curlin) completed the exacta for her leading sire; Army Wife (Declaration of War) was third. The 1-2 favorite raced on the outside in fifth rounding the clubhouse turn and held that slot through a half mile in :49.12. She began to make her move while four wide around the far turn and came charging down the center in the stretch to atone for her first career defeat by 1 1/2 lengths. Malathaat, heroine of the GI Kentucky Oaks, was a game second after getting hounded throughout in Saratoga's GI CCA Oaks last time July 24. The final time for 1 1/4 miles was 2:02.59.
