Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted July 8, 2018 Journalists Share Posted July 8, 2018 OWNING (c, 2, Flashback–Meridian Mama, by Forestry) made quite an adventure out of his OBS April breeze, but still drilled a sharp time and brought a big number in the ring. Debuting Sunday at Los Alamitos, the gray showed some of that greenness, and plenty of his speed, to graduate impressively and become the first winner for his freshman sire (by Tapit). Zig-zagging about the track while nevertheless clocking a :10 1/5 breeze in Ocala, Owning brought $260,000, which stands as the second-highest figure for a Flashback offspring thus far in 2018. Given a 33-10 chance in this career bow, he balked a bit at the gate, but came away cleanly once the latches sprung and posted up outside of a three-way vanguard behind the pacesetter through a :22.35 quarter. Setting sail for the lead on the latter half of the turn, Owning kicked away past the eighth pole while running a bit erratically, and came home a convincing three-length victor in 1:04.20. Tariq (Into Mischief) was second-best. The victor has a yearling half-sister by Secret Circle and a Liam’s Map half-brother of this season. Sales History: $60,000 Ylg ’17 FTKOCT. Lifetime Record: 1-1-0-0, $24,000. O-Reddam Racing; B-Hill ‘n’ Dale Equine Holdings Inc. (KY); T-Simon Callaghan.
