Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted July 8, 2018 Journalists Share Posted July 8, 2018 Robert V LaPenta and Madaket Stables’ Catholic Boy (More Than Ready) came out his victory by a head over Analyze It (Point of Entry) in Saturday’s GI Belmont Derby Invitational in good order, trainer Jonathan Thomas said by phone Sunday morning. “He came out of the race well and he’s actually headed back to Saratoga today,” Thomas said. “The last quarter of a mile of that race was as exciting as it gets. Both horses ran very well and showed a lot of determination, and that’s what racing is all about. We were proud of our horse’s effort, and thought Analyze It ran great, too. It’s just nice to have a horse of this ilk.” Thomas said there were no definite plans for Catholic Boy’s future. He said he would discuss his next step with the ownership group and determine if he will stay on the turf or switch back to the main track. Catholic Boy re-rallied to defeat Analyze It for the second consecutive race Saturday on the heels of a victory in the June 2 GIII Pennine Ridge S. Last autumn, he captured the GII Remsen S. on dirt at Aqueduct and was considered a GI Kentucky Derby contender for much of the winter. Analyze It, meanwhile, also emerged from the Derby in fine condition and could be pointed toward the GI Secretariat S. at Arlington Aug. 11, trainer Chad Brown said Sunday. “He came back good,” Brown said. “I’ll take him to the Secretariat if he’s doing well. He showed he can handle the distance. We’ll observe the horse training and try to figure out maybe a change of equipment and anything else I can do to correct his issue here of wanting to idle when he makes the lead.” View the full article
