Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted August 28, 2021 Journalists Posted August 28, 2021 Last term's champion female sprinter and GI Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Sprint heroine Gamine (f, 4, Into Mischief–Peggy Jane, by Kafwain) punched her ticket to this year's Championships at Del Mar in Saturday's “Win and You're In” GI Ketel One Ballerina H. at Saratoga. The 1-5 favorite was sent to the front from her rail draw, led through fractions of :23.20 and :45.68 and took care of business in the stretch to defeat longshot Lake Avenue (Tapit) by 1 1/2 lengths. Ce Ce (Elusive Quality) was third. The final time for seven furlongs was 1:21.61. Gamine, a runaway winner of Saratoga's GI Test S. last summer, was perfect in three prior starts this term, including the GI Derby City Distaff S. at Churchill Downs May 1.
