And it appears she’s found her niche! Trained by Andrea Dailly, Gypsy Wyong was the ‘indisputable leader of the gang’ in tonight’s G3 Top Cat Video Cup final (725m) at The Meadows. A ‘most effectual’ distance prospect, Gypsy Wyong claimed a $25,000 first prize with a classy 42.56sec frontrunning exhibition at only her second staying start. Late last month, Gypsy Wyong (July ’19 Westmead Hawk x Dyna Gypsy) finished fourth to Collinda Patty in the G3 Speed Star (600m) at The Meadows. WATCH: GYPSY WYONG (B2) lands the first group win of her exciting career when taking out the $35,500 G3 #TopCatVideoCup at The Meadows, defeating HANK THE HUSTLER (B4) and KNICKS BALE (B8) in 42.56sec. Then last week, she finished second to the Jeff Britton-trained Hank The Hustler in a Top Cat Video Cup heat. But with the benefit of that run, Gypsy Wyong ($4.90) turned ‘swindler’ on Hank The Hustler ($3.40) who rattled home to finished second, beaten 1.6L, in the final. The Samantha Grenfell-trained Knicks Bale ($12.20) was a further 0.7L away in third place. Gypsy Wyong notched her 11th win from 19 starts, including five of her past eight. She’s also six from seven exiting Box 2. Meanwhile, Britton received some consolation due to the scratching of pre-post favourite Mepunga Ruby – a winner of 10 of her past 13 starts – as Hank The Hustler snared $7000 for finishing second. ‘But above everything’, Gypsy Wyong was the ‘most tip top’.
