Versatile galloper Toomuchtobear (NZ) (Press Statement) advanced his record to three wins from seven starts when landing the Bowermans Commercial Furniture Handicap (2000m) at Kembla Grange on Saturday.

Dictating under Jason Collett, the Chris Waller-trained Toomuchtobear narrowly withstood the challenge of stablemates Our Intrigue (NZ) (Showcasing) and Yiyi (No Nay Never) who filled the minor placings.

“It was a nice ride from Jason. He rated him well,” Waller said.

“There wasn’t a lot of speed on and you saw Our Intrigue come and sit second. I thought she’d be back and to James McDonald’s credit she hung on well for second.

“They were well judged rides and I think Toomuchtobear is a horse going places.”

Toomuchtobear was purchased through Waller’s bloodstock advisor Guy Mulcaster at the 2019 New Zealand Bloodstock Book 1 yearling sale from the draft of Carlaw Park for $120,000.

The son of Press Statement is out of the three win High Chaparral mare Bearish and was bred by Dan Myers, who sold the talented galloper to Carlaw Park’s Nick Fairweather and Nicole Brown at the NZB Weanling Sale for $85,000.
