Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted September 14, 2021 Journalists Posted September 14, 2021 A colt from the second crop of Almanzor (Fr) led the first day of the Osarus Yearling Sale in La Teste de Buch and will join the stable of Jean-Claude Rouget after being bought by MAB Agency for €50,000. Lot 102 was consigned by breeder Haras de Saint Vincent and is a son of the listed-placed Dutch Art (GB) mare Passion Blanche (GB), a descendant of the great Meon Valley Stud matron Reprocolor (GB). Her sole winner to date is the 4-year-old Whitehaven (Fr) (Le Havre {Ire}), who has won four races in Britain for Hughie Morrison. It was a low-key start to the two-day auction with a clearance rate of just 61% from the 131 yearlings offered. The 79 lots sold returned an aggregate of €838,000 at an average price of €10,933 and median of €8,000. The sale did not take place in its usual slot last year, but the figures have dropped markedly from 2019, when the sale overall posted a clearance rate of 77.5% with an average of €21,090 and median of €17,000. The British-based Nick Bradley Racing syndicate has enjoyed an excellent season on the track in 2021 and has been active across the yearling sales so far this year. This continued at Osarus, where Bradley signed for two yearlings in partnership with Newmarket trainer George Boughey. These included the day's top filly (lot 15), a daughter of Born To Sea (Ire) who was bought privately from breeder Haras des Faunes at €28,000 after being led out of the ring unsold. The sale continues on Wednesday. The post Almanzor Colt Tops Osarus Opener appeared first on TDN | Thoroughbred Daily News | Horse Racing News, Results and Video | Thoroughbred Breeding and Auctions.
