Eight metropolitan races will be run and won this Wednesday at Ipswich, so HorseBetting’s Queensland racing analyst brings you his best bets and quaddie numbers for the meeting. The track is currently rated a Soft 5, the rail is in the true position for the entire course, and the first race is set to jump at 1:08pm AEST.

Best Bet at Ipswich: Keefy

Both Hats and Ilikeit Iloveit come out of a 3YO Benchmark 65 at the Gold Coast last start where they ran first and second in good style, but David Vandyke’s Keefy looks to bring the far superior form to the opening race of the day. The son of All Too Hard ran third when fresh behind Rob Heathcote’s Startantes, who has since won two more races while defeating the likes of Alpine Edge and Prince Of Boom. There is only a field of five to contest this race, so Mark Du Plessis should have plenty of options from barrier four over the 1666m journey. The gelding’s last-start fifth at Doomben was very good given there was less than a length between him and the winner, who somewhat franked that form by running third at the same track on Saturday. Keefy looks a clear standout here.

Best Value Bet at Ipswich: Better Ethics

Lindsay Hatch and James Orman combine in the penultimate race with Better Ethics. The five-year-old gelding by Better Than Ready rarely fires a shot first-up, so his fifth-place effort at Toowoomba on August 28 behind the talented Count The Coin was full of merit. The rise to 1666m gives us plenty of confidence, as he has won twice at this distance, while the second-up record (3:1-1-0) is handy too. Better Ethics strung together back-to-back wins late last preparation, winning at Toowoomba on both occasions. The gelding should relish a solid tempo over the mile, as it will set it up nicely for him to run home strongly. Orman on is a big plus too.

Best ValueRace 7 – Better Ethics (#4) $16 with Sportsbet
