Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted September 16, 2021 Journalists Share Posted September 16, 2021 What Geelong Races Where Geelong Racecourse – 99 Breakwater Rd, Breakwater VIC 3219 When Friday, September 17, 2021 First Race 1:30pm AEST Watch Live Streaming Live at Sportsbet Geelong is scheduled to host an eight-race card on Friday afternoon, and HorseBetting’s Victorian form analyst presents his best bets and quaddie numbers with odds from Australia’s leading online bookmakers. The track is rated a Good 4, the rail is out 6m, and racing is set to get underway at 1:30pm AEST. Geelong Best Bet: Stonefield We were with the Leon & Troy Corstens-trained Stonefield for his win at Cranbourne on September 2 when he ran on strongly from the rear of the field and put his rivals away with relative ease. He did that with 63kg on his back in a BM58, and despite stepping up to BM64 class on Friday, he drops 3kg and Damien Oliver sticks on board. The track at Geelong has been racing fairly in recent times and backmarkers will get their chance on Friday, which will suit Stonefield down to the ground. He has a nice turn of foot and should prove hard to hold out with the in-form Oliver in the saddle. Best BetRace 7 – Stonefield (#3) $7 with Sportsbet Next Best at Geelong: Goondiwindi The Danny O’Brien-trained Goondiwindi broke through for a deserved maiden victory at Sale on August 22 when resuming from a five-month spell. Having begun his career with consecutive runner-up performances last campaign, he looks to have turned the corner with that soft win first-up. The three-year-old son of Australia will look to settle up on speed from barrier four under John Allen. Goondiwindi clearly has plenty of potential moving forward, and in a race where plenty of his rivals are struggling to win on a consistent basis, he should be too good once again. Next BestRace 6 – Goondiwindi (#8) $3.40 with Sportsbet Geelong Value Bet: Star Waltz Despite peaking on her run in the final 50m on debut at Benalla on August 30, Star Waltz from the Mathew Ellerton & Simon Zahra stable looks well placed to bring up a maiden win on Friday. The three-year-old Snitzel filly showed plenty of early speed to take up the running last time out, and from barrier two under Damian Lane on Friday she should have no issue in doing the same. The 1125m looks perfect for her, and in a race with a lot of unpredictability about it, we expect Star Waltz to be too hard to run down this time round. Best ValueRace 2 – Star Waltz (#12) $6 with Sportsbet Friday quaddie tips for Geelong Geelong quadrella selections Leg 1: 1-4-7-10 Leg 2: 1-2-6-8 Leg 3: 1-2-3 Leg 4: 4-5-6-10-12 Investment: $240 for 100% See more horse racing tips View the full article
