Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted September 24, 2021 Journalists Share Posted September 24, 2021 By Jonny Turner After denying the odds first up, Deny Everything is poised for more success at Addington on Friday night. The Mark Jones trained pacer produced a brilliant return to racing at Ashburton earlier this month after being away from the track for almost two years. In a staggering display, the five-year-old shrugged off working three-wide in the breeze for 1000m before powering home in fast closing sectionals to seal a huge win. Samantha Ottley reunites with Deny Everything after his victory in junior driver’s company and he looks the pick of her handy book of drives on Friday night. “I think if Deny Everything goes as good as he did in his last start he will be my best chance,” Ottley said. “He is such a big fella, he covers the ground so easy, he is deceiving.” “Hopefully he can stay sound because he is a lovely horse.” Plutonium Lady looks another of Ottley’s strong chances despite the mare having to take on her Group 1 winning stablemate in Stylish Memphis. Stylish Memphis (9) looked in need of racing in last week’s Hannon Memorial with Plutonium Lady (8) beating her home, albeit in a sprint home. With more recent racing under her belt and drawing inside her main rival, Plutonium Lady should be able to give her stablemate plenty to think about on Friday night. “I will play it by ear at the start, she has got enormous gate speed.” “But there are a couple inside me that can get out.” “I’d like to think she would be pretty competitive either way.” In race 7, Ottley combines with Asian Elvis who has produced strong form this time in. The pacer did a power of work in his last start at Oamaru and battled on meritoriously to run sixth. “I haven’t driven him in his last few starts, but when I won on him at Addington I liked him.” “He should be a pretty good chance.” Ottley and Artatac will be out to continue their good run of recent form in race 5, Friday night’s feature pace. The Mark Jones trained pacer jumps up in class but he has the advantage of starting off the front line in the 2600m handicap. “It is a bit of a jump in class, we are going to have to step and run and make it hard for the backmarkers.” “If he gets away, he won’t mind bowling along.” Ottley also combines with Harbour Queen who looks a place chance in race 3. Following Friday night’s meeting, the reinswoman heads to Motukarara on Sunday for five drives including Majestic Lavros in the Group 3 Banks Peninsula Trotting Club.
