curious
Good evening, NZTR is asking our participants to tell us about their views on vaccination. NZTR has an obligation to keep its participants safe under health and safety legislation. This includes eliminating or minimising the health and safety risks arising from COVID-19, so far as reasonably practicable. NZTR believes the best way to fulfil those obligations and protect our participants and the future of racing it through vaccination, and we are urging those eligible to get vaccinated to protect themselves and their fellow New Zealanders from the worst effects of COVID-19. We understand there is plenty of misinformation available on the internet and would recommend that anyone wanting their questions answered regarding the vaccine to head to COVID-19 (medsafe.govt.nz) for credible and reliable information. The following survey is intended to gauge the level of vaccination coverage currently within our industry and what you feel NZTR should be doing to protect our industry from COVID-19. Please note that the survey is totally anonymous so we welcome your frank and honest opinions. The industry’s approach to vaccinations is critical to our future. We need to hear from you to make sure that we make the right decisions for everyone. The survey can be found by clicking the button below and is open until 5pm on Friday 1 October 2021 https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/TMVHMYM If you have any questions, please feel free to get in touch. Kind regards, http://i2.cmail20.com/ei/r/25/1DF/BF6/175203/csfinal/Bernard-signature-990514028a028a3c.png Bernard SaundryChief ExecutiveNew Zealand Thoroughbred Racing Vaccination Survey NZTR believes that one of the most important and easiest things we can do to protect our community, our industry and our sport is to get vaccinated against COVID-19. We want to understand what you plan to do about getting vaccinated and whether and how you think we should support our people to get the jab. This survey is anonymous and it is optional. You don’t have to answer any of these questions if you don’t want to. But the answers we get will help us to plan out our next steps. Question Title 1. What is your role in the industry? I am a: Trainer Stablehand Jockey Apprentice Trackwork rider Other industry role (please specify) Question Title 2. What is your current vaccination status? I have had one dose of the Pfizer vaccine against COVID-19 I have had two doses of the Pfizer vaccine against COVID-19 I have not had any doses of the Pfizer vaccine, but I am booked in to be vaccinated against COVID-19 I have not had any doses of the Pfizer vaccine, and am not booked for a vaccine yet, but I intend to get vaccinated against COVID-19 I am medically unable to have the Pfizer vaccine, but I would at least consider it if I was able to be vaccinated I have not had any doses of the Pfizer vaccine, and I don’t want or intend to get vaccinated against COVID-19 I don’t want to answer this question Question Title 3. There are many different ways that NZTR could encourage people to get vaccinated against COVID-19. Thinking about the concept overall, though, do you think NZTR should encourage: (tick all applicable) All licence holders to get vaccinated? All owners to get vaccinated? Everyone who works at a racecourse or training centre to get vaccinated? Everyone who comes to a race meeting as a spectator to get vaccinated? Question Title 4. Do you have any comments for us? curious
It's interesting that NZTR conclude that "NZTR believes the best way to fulfil those obligations (H&S) and protect our participants and the future of racing is through vaccination" citing the Medsafe link provided which hasn't been updated for 2 months. Medsafe says there among other things: What research has been undertaken and/or reviewed about COVID-19 vaccine effectiveness and risks, including from hyperimmune responses? Any company wishing to seek consent for a vaccine in New Zealand must provide evidence to show the efficacy, quality and safety of the vaccine, including the risk of hyperimmune responses with COVID-19 vaccines. How long will the vaccines work? At this stage, we do not know how long a vaccine might work for. Does the vaccine prevent or reduce transmission of COVID-19? At this stage, we do not know if vaccination prevents or reduces transmission of COVID-19. Will the vaccines still work if COVID-19 mutates? Scientists and regulators will be monitoring whether mutations in the SARS-CoV-2 virus are likely to alter the effectiveness of any vaccines. Freda
Yeah. I noticed the email earlier this morning. I answered the questionnaire, noting that [ at this point ] the language refers to 'encouraging' folk to be vaccinated. It'll be interesting indeed if they alter their stance and require mandatory vaccination.

No option there if you think they should do none of those.
