Middle Park Glory For Ardad’s Perfect Power

There seemed little between the chief protagonists in Saturday's G1 Juddmonte Middle Park S. and that was the case as Sheikh Rashid Dalmook Al Maktoum's Perfect Power (Ire) (Ardad {Ire}) prevailed in a tight finish. Freshened up since his success in Deauville's G1 Prix Morny over this six-furlong trip Aug. 22, the 11-4 favourite was held up with only Castle Star (Ire) (Starspangledbanner {Aus}) behind early as the pace proved hot. Cajoled by Christophe Soumillon passing halfway, the Richard Fahey-trained bay who had also captured the June 17 G2 Norfolk S. at Royal Ascot arrived widest of all and was in front 100 yards from home en route to a cosy half-length verdict over Castle Star, with a neck back to Armor (GB) (No Nay Never) in third.
